Pain control after surgery is one of the major problems in pediatric anesthesia. The aim of this study was evaluation of two different drugs, petidine for analgesia as a routine procedure and preoperative oral clonidine in prevention of post-operative pain and agitation in children. A total of 44 candidates for elective herniotomy (aged 1 to 3 years) randomly divided into two groups of 22. In the first half hour before induction of anesthesia in the oral clonidine group, 4 micrograms per kilogram with 5 ml / kg / hour for every hour fasting serum 3/2 3/1 received and second group of patients in the recovery room 5/0 mg / kg pethidine received.
