The present study is a clinical trial aiming to determine the effect of education based on Health Belief Model on mothers health behaviors and rate of early childhood caries in a pediatric population in Ahvaz, Iran.The inclusion criteria were: Mothers with children aged 12–36 months old without caries; Giving birth to a healthy baby; Fluent in Persian (Farsi); and satisfaction with participating in the study.The exclusion criteria were as follows: Lack of participation in educational sessions; Immigration of Participants to Distant Areas and lack of access to them; and having a child's underlying illness.The studied population included 104 women with children under age 3 were selected and randomly placed in either the experimental group (n = 52) or the control group (n = 52) who participated in education intervention based on Health Belief Model on prevalence of early childhood caries educational intervention in 2015. Then their performance was measured in terms of healthy behaviors and early dental caries.
