The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of storytelling on loneliness in school-age children hospitalized in the children hospital in Rasht city. The samples included 56 children aged 8 to 12 years old are hospitalized suffering from acute disease. Inclusion criteria included: Children 8 to 12 years, hospitalization have not passed for more than 12 hours, accompanying one of the parents during hospitalization, having consciousness, lack of pain, A tendency to participate in the study, lack of psychological problems impede the communication and participation are considered. The appointment of the samples were randomly performed into two intervention and control groups. Data collection instrument was Loneliness Scale of Asher. In order to collect data, at first a complete explanations will be given to child's mother about the study, then the demographic information questionnaire and Asher loneliness questionnaire will be completed in the first day (before the intervention). No intervention would be carried out in the control group. In the intervention group, from the first day to the fifth day of hospitalization storytelling is done verbally and individually by the researcher, once a day, in the evening shift, 16 to 18 o'clock, in the presence of the mother. One day after the intervention of storytelling, on the sixth day the questionnaire of loneliness intervention and control groups is completed again.
