Protocol summary

Summary
The aim of this study is access of effect of vitamin c and placebo on pricardial effusion in post cardiac surgury patients with or without anticoagolation therapy. In this clinical randomized trial 400 patients (18 years old and older)who had different cardiac surgery (coronary artery bypass,valvular heart surgery,and simple cardiac surgery),divided into two groups,study group who receive vitamin c and control group who receive placebo.Echocardiographic evaluation will be perform for all the patients at the first and 3rd weeks after the cardiac surgery and third weeks we do echocardiography on all patient. the severity of pericardial effusion will be compared between the two groups

Purpose

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: patient 18 years old and older; different cardiac surgery (coronary artery bypass,valvular heart surgery,and simple congenital cardiac surgery). Exclusion criteria: patient who expire at the first day of surgery; patient with history of heart and lung transplantation; complex congenital heart disease surgery.

Intervention groups

Description
Interventiona Group who receive Vit C, The intervention group received vitamin c 1gr intravenously on the day of surgery and 1 g of oral vitamin C daily for 4 days after surgery.
