Background: Myocardial Infarction (MI) is a common presentation of coronary artery disease. Patients with MI need to receive education on sexual health before discharge. Disregarding this issue may lead to stress, anxiety, depression and reduction of sexual satisfaction in the patients and their spouses.
Objective:The evaluation of effect of implementation sexual educational plan by nurses for patient after myocardial infarction and their spouses on stress, anxiety, depression and sexual satisfaction their.
Method: This is a semi-experimental study conducted on 120 patients with MI and their spouses who were non-randomly divided into two groups (n=60 per group). Data were gathered using demographic information, DASS-21 and Larson standard questionnaires. In this study four nurses were prepared through two theoretical and one practical session and then provided sexual health education for the patients and their spouses in five sessions. The patients were also given pamphlets containing the same information and followed up after 6 weeks. Data were analyzed using SPSS 16.

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: age between 30-60 years old; every two sexes; legally married; monogamy; the patient and his wife do not impediment to sexual communication; literate; diagnosis of MI is confirmed by a physician for samples; be admitted in ccu and is at least the third day of their stay (they have the ability to communicate); first MI; known case of depression; anxiety and stress do not have; do not have sexual disorders like premature ejaculation, sexual reluctance dyspareunia, vaginismus and ... ; do not have serious complications of myocardial infarction.
Exclusion criteria: patient and partner can be a barrier sexual communication; patient experience secondary MI; have Known case of depression; anxiety and stress; do have sexual disorders like premature ejaculation; sexual reluctance dyspareunia; vaginismus and ...; do have serious complications of myocardial infarction.
