Protocol summary

Summary
1)This study investigates the effect of caring plan of the concept map method on nursing students’ critical thinking at work.2) Inclusion criteria: having four credits on Internal Surgery in the current semester; willing to participate in the project; exclusion criteria: being free in case of transferring: dropping : guest.3)The research method is based on intervening study which evaluates an action research with a control group.4) The participants will be 34 nursing students who are randomly selected and divided into two equal groups including the concept map and control groups.5) The participants will fill in the California Type B Questionnaire before their vocational training in the hospital. Then the intervening group will be invited to participate in a one-day workshop on how to draw the concept map before working in the Neurology Ward of the hospital.6) Each group works on the patients with brain stroke in the Neurology Ward during 10 days.7) The concept map group should present four caring plans concerned with the patients with CVA. Finally, the participants’ critical thinking in both groups will be evaluated and compared ,firstly, at the end of the vocational training and ,secondly, it is done one month later. The concept maps which are drawn by the intervening group will be evaluated through the criterion of the concept map scale which assesses the participants’ progress in drawing their concept maps.
