Protocol summary

Summary
This study aims to evaluate the effect of clinical guideline based education on practice of nurses in the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia. In this quasi-experimental study Total of 60 nurses who working in the ICU was non- randomly divided into two groups. Of control and experiment (30 people in each group) Experiment group received education by installing posters bedside of patients and giving pamphlet and booklet to them. Moreover the experiment group received four sessions of practical care of patients who connected to the ventilator. There wasn't any intervention for control group. The data of both groups were collected after one month intervention by checklist of intensive care performance of nurses in morning and evening and night shifts. The x-ray diagnosis of patients in both groups was Observed after intervention.

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Including criteria were having license or higher degree in nursing, having experience of intensive care unites at last 3 months. Having rotating shift (morning. evening and night) Don't have any educational classess related to pneumonia in past 3 months. Including criteria were unwilling to continue participation in this study, irregular attention, absence more ther 2 sessions, be transfered to the other sectors except special section.
