Comparison the effect of peer education and orientation tour on anxiety and stress of patients candidate for coronary angiography in selected hospital of AJA University of Medical Sciences
Coronary artery disease is the most common type of cardiovascular disease Which is the most important cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. Coronary angiography is the best method for anatomic evaluation. However the procedure is a daunting for many patients. Available of stress and anxiety and patient attempts to cope with it puts the patient at risk in coronary angiography room, so that there will be the possibility of dysrhythmias during coronary angiography, coronary artery spasm or rupture. Patient education is an effective way to increase patient awareness and their anxiety is moderated. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effects of peer education and orientation tour on anxiety and stress in patients undergoing coronary angiography to compare the two methods will be designed and implemented.
During the clinical trials, number of 177 patients referred to “502 Tehran hospital” were recruited by convenience sampling and then one day among the three groups, Peer education, orientation tours and controls (n = 59 per group) were assigned. Stress and anxiety was measured in all patients on admission. In peer group, patients by a peer person and in orientation tour group, patients were trained by the researcher in the department of angiography. In the control group routine care was performed. Then stress and anxiety was measured two hours before angiography. Data collection tools was demographics questionnaire and the DASS-21 questionnaire. The data collected were analyzed using SPSS v.21 software. Start and end time of sampling was 15.06.2014 to 16.08.2014.

Inclusion criteria:
1.Angiography should be performed for the first time and not have a history of cardiac hospitalization.
2. Angiography is not the type of emergency.
3. All participants must be able to read and write.
4. In the past are not under other invasive procedures such as transesophageal echocardiography.
5. A history of heart valve disease are not known.
6. Do not have cognitive problems and physical disability.
7. Do not have a history of depression and anxiety and use of sedative drugs.
8. Aged from 25 to 65 years old.
9. They are not a member of the medical staff.
10. One of their relatives are not Coronary angiography previously.
Exclusion criteria:
1. If patients are clinically ill and have not stable condition hemodynamically.
2. Sedative drugs apart from routine drug given to all patients be prescribed.
3. The patient does not want to continue participating in the study.
