The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of painting therapy on depression in 8-12 years old children with cancer in Ahvaz Shafa hospital. The research sample consisted of 30 subjects (15 patients and 15 control group) of children with cancer admitted in Ahwaz Shafa hospital, who were selected for sampling and were requested to answer depression scale (CDI). A quasi-experimental research method with pretest - posttest and control group were designed. After random selection of experimental and control groups at the beginning, the pre-test for both screening and intervention (painting therapy) in 8 sessions, each session lasted 2 hours, was administered on the sample group, and after completion of training, then the post test was taken for both groups, the follow-up was performed after one month. For data analysis, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used.

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: children aged 12-8 years old with confirmed diagnosis of cancer in the hospital and admitted to the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology ward; having normal IQ according to medical records; those who volunteered to participate in the test.; earn a score higher than 22 based on the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI).
