The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of painting therapy on state anxiety in children with cancer 8-12 years in hospital. The research sample consisted of 30 subjects of children (15 patients and 15 control group) with cancer 8-12 admitted in hospital, these group of people were selected randomly for sampling and were requested to answer state anxiety scale (RCMAS). And quasi-experimental research of this method was a pretest - posttest control group. After random selection of the experimental and control groups at the beginning, the pre-test for both screening and intervention (painting therapy) in 8 sessions were taken, each session lasted about 2 hour , was administered on the sample group, However, the control group received no intervention and after completion of training, then the posttest was taken for both groups (the experimental and control groups), the follow-up was performed after one month rest. For data analysis, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used. The results of data analysis have shown that painting therapy caused the reduction state anxiety of experimental group in comparison to the witness group and after a month of tracking the effect of paintings therapy on reducing state anxiety was stable. In other words, 93% of individual differences was in state anxiety scores during a month of tracking related to the effect of painting therapy.

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: having medical record or admited in children hematology and oncology ward of the hospital; 12-8 years old Children. Score higher than 19 on the scale RMCAS; confirmed the diagnosis of cancer; normal IQ; being volunteer to participate in the study.
Exclusion criterion: children who were not able to attend the meetings of the painting.
