Investigating the Effectiveness of Group Intervention on social skills of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (Training and Rehabilitation Center for Children with Autism of Isfahan)
The objective of the present quasi-experimental study was to investigating the effectiveness of group intervention on the social skills of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and was conducted using pre-test/post-test and with two experimental and control groups. The population of the study consisted of all children with autism who were trained in Training and Rehabilitation Center for Children with Autism of Isfahan. Among this individuals, 16 participants with ages between 3 to 6 years old were selected as the sample using convenience sampling and were divided into two experimental group (8 participants) and control group (8 participants). Group intervention based on Cotugno (2009) and Shapiro (2004) Model for the experimental group in 48 60-minute sessions during 6 months were conducted and for the control group, there was no intervention. Also, both experimental and control groups trained with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). To collect the data of the dependent variable, Social Skills Checklist (Ilene et al. 2004) was used. We expect to see increasing the Social Skills (game skills, understanding emotions, problem solving, skills of interaction with the group, verbal communication skills, nonverbal communication skills, beginner in questioning and answering questions skills) in the Experiment group after Group Intervention.

Inclusion: 3-6 years old; diagnosis of Autism by Psychiatrist based on DSM IV; Exclusion: Other neurological disorder such as cerebral palsy; seizure; metabolic disorder; change in drugs during the intervention, lack of cooperation and not participating in assessment session.
