Comparison the effect of two left internal mammary artery harvesting techniques skeletonization and pedicle on post coronary artery bypass surgery pain and bleeding ;a Randomized Double Blind Clinical Trail

A total of 60 patients undergoing elective, Coronary artery bypass graft requiring Left internal mammary artery harvest were screened for eligibility and were included into the study. Emergency surgery, a history of cardiac surgery, a history of receiving medication with antiplatelet agents, a left ventricular ejection fraction less than 20%, preoperative renal dysfunction, preoperative hepatic dysfunction, electrolyte imbalance, Inability to return for follow-up visits, premature mortality, neurological complications, and use of intra-aortic balloon pump were the exclusion criteria. The patients were categorized into two equal groups by computer: skeletonized harvesting method and pediculate harvesting method. All post-operative assessment were performed by the medical staff who were blinded to the group of the patients. post-operative bleeding were evaluated in the first 24 hours postoperatively. Each patient's pain was assessed by visual analogue scoring at the third day post oprative and at 1-year follow-up.
