Objectives: Cardiac arrest is one of the manifestations of patients in emergency rooms. They are managed according to the last AHA guideline with epinephrine, anti arrhythmic drugs or defibrillation. Some studies showed that cortisol level be decreased during cardiac arrest and after resuscitation. This study wants to evaluate corticosteroid level in victims after successful cardiac arrest.
Study design and methods: An observation and intervention study blood sample was given from patients with cardiac arrest to measure the level of cortisol. If CPR was successful and return of spontaneous circulation happened, synthetic ACTH would be injected and cortisol level be re-checked after 30 minutes, 1 and 24 hours later.
Inclusion criterion: Patients with age more than 18 with cardio-pulmonary arrest
Exclusion criterion: Patients who use intravenous or oral Corticosteroid
Intervention: Intra venous injection of synthetic ACTH
Basic outcome measure: Survival after 24 hours according of the level of cortisol
