Spiritual care is a vital part of nursing care. However, nurses report that they receive little education on how to provide spiritual care. The purpose of this study was survey effects of spiritual care education to nurses on patient satisfaction of oncology and cardiac wards. In a experimental study all nurses of oncology and cardiac wards selected by census sampling, randomly assigned to an experimental and control group. Main inclusion criteria for nurses was age 20-50 years old; bachelor's degree in nursing; circular shifting work; not participating in similar workshop in the last 6 months;and for patients aged 18-80 years old; hospitalization at least for 48 hours in oncology and cardiac wards. The experimental group participated in a two-day workshop on spiritual care. Subjects of control group were not educated. The knowledge of the nurses in spiritual care was evaluated before and after intervention. Nurses’ performance was evaluated and compared by measurement of patient satisfaction with nurses’ spiritual care before and one month later educational workshop.
