Quasi-experimental study, to evaluate the effect of empathy training on performance empathy and clinical competence of midwifery students. The research included 73 midwifery students, semester 5 and 7, who are in hospital internship. These students were selected based on the following criteria: Willingness to participate in the study and not having the experience of clinical work independently. Exclusion criteria included history of participation in courses training of communication skills and empathy. In the first stage, for students in the control group, the questionnaire of clinical competency was completed by researcher (the method to see the taking history from three pregnant women by students), then the questionnaires JSPE-HP and clinical competence by method self assessment and questionnaire JSPPPE by three pregnant mothers, who were taken history of them by students were completed. 1 week later, were completed again the same questionnaires and by method before, for them.
In the second stage, for the intervention group, the questionnaire of clinical competency was completed by researcher (the method to see the taking history from three pregnant women by students), then the questionnaires JSPE-HP and clinical competence were completed by method of self assessment and then JSPPPE questionnaire was completed by three pregnant mothers, whose medical history were taken by students . At the end of the week, intervention group participated for 8 hour in training workshop of communication and empathy. 1 week after the workshop, the same questionnaires were completed in the intervention group. The primary outcomes of the study were clinical competence and students' empathy.
