The objective of this study is to determine the effect of risk assessment checklist and preventive measures training workshop on violence against nurses at Tohid Hospital in Sanandaj city in Iran. The study population was chosen using census which according to the information of the nursing office included 40 nurses who worked in the emergency department. The sample size was chosen according to the formula of statistics advisor which was at least 15 emergency ward nurses.
The inclusion criteria included all the employed nurses in the emergency ward, three month working experience in the emergency ward and willingness to participate in the study. The exclusion criteria included lack of willingness to continue the study, not filling out the questionnaire, not using the checklist and being transferred to other wards during the conduction of study. After explaining the goal of the study and obtaining informed consent, the pretest would be conducted in order to determine the amount and type of violence against nurses experienced in the last six weeks.
The way of using the risk assessment checklist and taking preventing measures will be taught to the nurses through a four hour workshop. Preventive measures would be conducted by the nurses on patients who scored 1 or more. After 6 weeks, a post-test will be conducted using SOAS-R and national questionnaire of violence at workplace.

Description
All nurses would have to participate in a 4-hour workshop and the time and method of using violence assessment checklist, as well as the precautionary measures for individuals prone to violence against nurses will be taught. Educational materials of workshop will be given to the nurses in the emergency ward during the 6-week of conducting the study.
