Determine The Effect of Education on the Nursing Perception and Clinical Competency about End-Of-Life Care for Patients with Cancer, in the Hospitals Supervised by Kerman University of Medical Sciences in 2017
Design
The clinical trial with two arm parallel group: an intervention group consisting of all nurses in the oncology and internal wards and control group without blinding
Settings and conduct
The study is conducted in Kerman University of Medical Sciences hospitals and on nurses of oncology and internal wards. Training intervention is performed in 3 sessions of 30 to 45 minutes at intervals of 1 week. Then, the level of perceived and clinical competence of the samples is measured by completing the questionnaires before and after the training.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
The statistical population in this study will be all nurses in oncology and internal wards dealing with an experience of patient care at the end-of-life stage
Experience of patient care at the end-of-life stage
An absence in training classes after pre-test for the intervention group
Intervention groups
Intervention group: At first, the level of understanding and clinical competence of the samples is measured by completing the questionnaires. Then the training program is executed. This program will be held by a researcher in 3 sessions of 30 to 45 minutes with a week interval. At the end of the training, the pamphlets will be given as a reminder of the materials. In the next step, in order to determine the effectiveness of the educational program and clinical competence, one and three months after training, the understanding and clinical competency of both groups will be measured through the same questionnaires.
