Objective: Identification of the effect of education with and without performance feedback on knowledge and skills of tracheal suctioning in nurses of Intensive Care Units(ICU) of hospitals Ahwaz
Design
Design: A before - after interventional study
Settings and conduct
At first, the performance of the nurses of the ICU of Imam Khomeini and Golestan hospitals of Ahvaz, who have study inclusion criteria, are checked by a check list and then knowledge questionnaire is completed by all samples. After this step, the correct suction method of the tracheal suctioning will be taught to all samples in theory and practice. Because of the possibility of transferring the feedback points by nurses, one of the two hospitals is drawn into the intervention group and the other in the control group, A week later, in the intervention group, feedback was given in writing and verbally, but no feedback is given to the control group.Four weeks after feedback, the knowledge questionnaire will be completed by both groups again and the performance will be measured by the checklist. A week later, the performance of the two groups will be reviewed again.The final grade of performance after training, the average score of the examination will be both the performance check.. At the end, the results of the analysis will be compared.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria:Nurses working in ICU, Minimum degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Having satisfaction and least 6 months work experience in the ICU.
Exclusion criteria:Unwillingness to continue cooperation, Not to be participated in the training session of tracheal suctioning, Transfering from the ICU to other departments or leave during the study.
