Effect of Reminiscence Group Therapy on emotional intelligence and quality of life in older adults referring to clinics affiliated to Shiraz University of Medical Sciences
Design
Older adults aged 60 to 80 eligible to participate, randomly assigned to one of the two intervention and control groups using the random numbers table. The sample size is estimated at 38. The study will be double blind. Sampling in both intervention and control groups and interventions are carried out simultaneously and in parallel.
Settings and conduct
Setting of the study is Imam Reza's clinic. Participants in the experimental group will participate in seven 90_minute sessions of reminiscence therapy that will be held twice a week. There is no intervention to participants in control group. Assistant researcher, data analyst and participants are blind to randomization status.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1- Willingness to participate in research, 2- Age 60-80 years old and 3- reading and writing literacy
Exclusion criteria: 1- Mental illness and cognitive impairment
Intervention groups
Intervention group: Participants in the experimental group will participate in 7 90_minute sessions of reminiscence therapy that will be held twice a week.The first session will be devoted to the introduction and completion of questionnaires and the purpose of the study and the rules of the group.Next sessions focus on recounting childhood memories up to now. In this way, an equal time is given to each person to tell the memories of his life to the group.
Control group: There is no intervention to participants in control group. The data from this group will be collected only for comparison with the intervention group.

Individuals will randomly assign to one of the two intervention and control groups with the help of a random number table.
