Study aim
Assessing the impact of teaching about clinical guidelines with short massages on the nurses’ knowledge and skills in peripheral catheter insertion
Design
two arm parallel group non randomised quasi experimental trial Designed for 68 nurses.
Settings and conduct
The research population consisted of all nurses working in Heshmat Medical Center in Rasht city (as an intervention group) and Shahid Beheshti Medical Center in Anzali (as control group). 34 nurses in the intervention group and 34 nurses in the control group Are selected. Before intervention, knowledge and skills of nurses in both intervention and control groups are evaluated and recorded. Then educational intervention is implemented. the knowledge and skills of nurses in both groups are evaluated and recorded immediately after the end of the training and 8 weeks after that.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: nurses who have at least a bachelor's degree in nursing that participate in direct care of the patient and perform peripheral catheter insertion. Non entry criteria: nurses who do not participate in direct care of the patient and do not perform peripheral catheter insertion.
Intervention groups
Before intervention, knowledge and skills of nurses in both intervention and control groups are evaluated and recorded.Then the process of educational intervention begins. For 10 days, two educational short messages are sent daily into the intervention group about how the venous catheter is inserted. Then, the knowledge and skills of nurses in both intervention and control groups are evaluated and recorded immediately after the end of the training and 8 weeks after that. After the end of the sampling, educational content is presented to the nurses of the control group.
Main outcome variables
If this training is to be effective, nursing managers can use this approach to training nursing skills.

Hospital selection of study groups and desired wards, has not been randomized. For this reason, the non-random allocation option was selected for study groups. However, among nurses of each class, a simple random sampling method was used, using a random number table.
