The aim of this study was to assess the effect of musical activities on executive function of patients with schizophrenia. 70 patients with schizophrenia in the age range of 20 - 45 years were non-randomly assigned to experimental or control group. Subjects with motor or sensory problems, mental retardation or any other conditions that can affect performance of tests or intervention were excluded. The experimental group took part in 24 music therapy sessions, 1 hour, 3 days a week including singing, playing musical instruments and performing purposeful movements with music. The executive function was measured using The Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST), Stroop test, Tower of London, and The Purde Peg Board Test before and after the intervention.
