Objective: To determine the effect of teaching method on the treatment of diabetic foot ulcer
Design of study:
60 diabetic patients will be selected with random allocation, the samples are placed in 3 groups. The three groups will be matched for severity of injury, treatment, education and age. Two groups will be invited for separate training sessions. 20 patients (group A) will be taught during an hour sessions through lecture and 20 patients (group B) will be taught by an integrated mix method. Then the Care Checklists will be given to the latter 2 groups for checking by themselves in a couple of weeks. The researcher will visit patients every 2 weeks, when the old checklists will be gathered and new checklists will be given to the patients. After 3 months, changes in wound will be evaluated in three groups. Photographs will be taken of each diabetic foot at the beginning and at the end of research period for the purpose of comparison. Data analysis will be done using descriptive and analytical statistics such as T tests and ANOVA. Decrease of wound area in millimeters is a measure for the effectiveness of teaching methods.
