To assess the effect of low level 940 nm diode laser therapy on pain, swelling and trismus after concomitant bilateral sagittal split osteotomy of mandibular ramus and Le Fort 1 osteotomy
Design
This is a randomized clinical trial, in which 30 eligible patients will be randomly assigned to the intervention and control groups
Settings and conduct
The eligible patients who need for bilateral sagittal split osteotomy of mandibular ramus and Le Fort 1 osteotomy and will refer to the School of Dentistry in Hamadan City during the study period will be enrolled in the trial and will be randomly assigned to the intervention and control groups through the drawing of lots.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria:
Age of 18 to 65 years;
Need for bilateral sagittal split osteotomy of mandibular ramus and Le Fort 1 osteotomy;
Pulling out the third molar 6 months ago
Exclusion criteria:
History of facial trauma;
Disorder of inferior alveolar nerve;
A history of gingivoplasty;
Rapture of the neurovascular bundle;
A history of split surgery BSSO;
Disorder of temporomandibular joint
Intervention groups
Intervention group:
Bilateral sagittal split osteotomy of mandibular ramus and Le Fort 1 osteotomy plus low level 940 nm diode laser therapy for at most 3 minutes
Control group:
Bilateral sagittal split osteotomy of mandibular ramus and Le Fort 1 osteotomy

Randomization description
Random assignment of the right and left sides of patients to the intervention and control groups through the drawing of lots. To do this, we prepare two sheets and write "intervention" on one sheet and "control" on another. Then, by referring each patient, one of the sheets will be randomly taken and the right side of the patient will be assigned to that group and the opposite side to another group.
