Determining the Effect of Effective Communication Training on Nurses on Postoperative Pain in Patients with High Risk of Cardio-respiratory Operations
Design
This is a controlled clinical trial of two groups that are performed sequentially.
Settings and conduct
This study is done in two periods of three months in Shohada Kargar Hospital, Yazd
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Criteria for entry (patients); 1. Having high cardio-respiratory risk (according to cardiac or internal counseling)
2. The candidate for surgery is cholecystectomy
3. Be above 18 years of age
Exit criteria (patients); 1. Non-familiar with Persian language
2. Clinical psychological diseases
3. Drug Addiction
4. Emergency attendant
Intervention groups
Research samples are selected from patients admitted to the operating room for at least half an hour before surgery in the operating room filling room, in two consecutive 3-month intervals. During the first 3 months, the nurses who care for the samples did not undergo any training. Patients in this period will be considered as the control group. In the interval of three months, all nurses and operating room personnel will be trained by the professors to train communication techniques and care protocol based on effective communication with the patient and acquire the necessary skills. Patients selected in the second trimester are under the care of trained nurses and patients are considered as the test group.
Main outcome variables
Expected outcomes in this study were the change in preoperative anxiety and postoperative pain in patients with high risk cardiopulmonary bypass surgery under nurses' care
