Comparative evaluation of oxygen therapy with nasal masks and canola on hemoglobin oxygen saturation, nausea and vomiting of the patients in the recovery room
The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of two methods of oxygen therapy: by nasal cannula and by mask; on the arterial oxygen saturation as well as on nausea and vomiting in patients in the recovery ward at Besat hospital, Sanandaj, Iran in 2013 . We selected 84 patients. Inclusion criteria were willingness to undergo spinal anesthesia. The samples were divided into two groups: oxygen therapy with nasal cannula and oxygen therapy using mask; with a flow rate of 5 L/minute. Then, severity of nausea and vomiting, as well as hemoglobin saturation, in both groups were recorded before the intervention. Subsequently, after 5, 10 and 30 minutes post intervention; those factors were recorded again resulting in comparison of the effects in both groups.
