Protocol summary

Summary
This study aims to provide a drug-free, easy and effective way to control the pain caused by catheterization in children. Inclusion criteria: children aged 12-6 years candidate for getting catheter. Exclusion criteria: history of hospitalization and IV received analgesics before catheterization, refractive vision problems (astigmatism, lens and glasses ...), and the experience of virtual space, agitated, critically ill and toxic children with special status, and unconsciousness. Totally, 126 children will participate in both the intervention and control groups. After collecting the samples, the informed consent form will be obtained from the child's guardian. Two minutes before venipuncture, virtual space is used to familiarize children and this process continues until end. The time of venepuncture will be calculated from arrival of needle to IV fixation. 10 minutes after the process, we would ask participants to explain their pain experience during venepuncture using the Oucher and select a picture shows the amount of pain. In the control group, all of the steps will be implemented except the virtual space.
