Comparing continuous milk feeding versus intermitant milk feeding for very low birth weight(VLBW) infants with Nasogastic tube(N.G.T) at 70 infants admitted in Emamreza hospital
One percent of neonates have less than 1500 gr birth weight, but 50% of neonates mortality is in this group of infants.Because of sucking and swallowing problems they can't gate feeding by their mother breast and them commonly fed by milk via nasogastric tube (NGT) by continuous or intermit ant methodes or cup feeds. We study the type of feeding by nasogastric tube (type I continuous NGT feeding and type II, 2 hours intermittent NGT feeding in very low birth weight infants) on weight gain. 73 very low birth weight infants who receive 180 cc/kg/24 h oral feeding will be studied. Exclusion criteria is infants with mechanical ventilatortherapy , Congenital anomaly , antibiotic therapy , Anemia, renal failure, Gastrointestinal disorder, infection, respiratory disorder and sever moderate IVH. The infants weight gain and the complication of type of feeding will be recorded.
