Investigating the effect of educational intervention on awareness and skills of accident prevention and first aid at home for grandparents taking care of children under 5 years old in Shiraz city.

2Increasing the level of parental ability to prevent children's domestic accidents, as well as increasing the safety of children (grandchildren) under 5 years of age in domestic accidents and reducing their deaths, and finally increasing the level of awareness in the field of first aid when domestic accidents occur among parents Caring for a child (grandchild) under 5 years old.

Grandparents eligible to enter the study, according to their registered information in the integrated system Farzanegan Daily Caring Foundation, 76 people are selected and divided into two intervention and control groups of 38 people using a table of random numbers in Excel software. We invite the intervention group and train them, and after the end of the training sessions, we measure their level of knowledge and skills.

2Intervention group and control group. We divide the grandparents into two intervention and control groups. We invite the intervention group for a training class and train them. The control group does not receive training.

Preventing accidents at home for children, increasing the knowledge of first aid for grandparents

The names of 86 older people who are caring their grandchildren at least 1 hour per week; will received from the FDCF system; Then, according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria in the random numbers table in Excel software, randomization is done by defining 2 codes of A & B (for two groups: intervention and control). Every grandparent has equal proportion to being in each group. The FDCF is Farzanegan Daily Caring Foundation which serve about 2500 older people in Shiraz city, south IRAN.
