Background: Nausea and vomiting are side effects of surgery.Today, using of acupressure is considered because of drug side effects. The present study has been done to compare the effects of acupressure with metoclopramide on nausea and vomiting after surgery. Methods: In a clinical trial were investigated 102 women with elective cesarean in Mostafa Khomeini hospital, Ilam,Iran. patients were randomized to three groups(34 patients in each group): control,metoclopramide and acupressure. In the first group, based on routine, did not do anything. The second group, received 10 mg intravenous metoclopramide immediately after the surgery. The third group, wrist strap were close in both hands tied( Nygan) 15 minutes before induction of anesthesia. Patients were allowed to open the wrists half an hour every two hours. Anesthesia was similar in all groups. Prophylactic antiemetic drugs no use to prevent nausea and vomiting before surgery. All groups received 5 liters of oxygen intraoperative. Nausea and vomiting and require antiemetic was recorded in 30,60,90,120 min and fourth and sixth hour after surgery. All patients were transferred to the postsurgical ward in the same posation and after the return of full consciousness. Data were analyzed using x2 and t-test.
