This study was performed to determine the effect of acupressure on the pain of intramuscular injection among women referring to Emergency ward of state hospital of Ilam city, Iran. This was a single blinded study and 150 participants (75 in normal injection group and 75 in acupressure group) were studied. Inclusion criteria: 1- age between 15-55 years old; 2- female gender; 3-no history of IM injection during 2 weeks ago. Exclusion criteria: 1- patients who have other drugs simultaneously; 2- patients who have frequent injections. In normal injection group, the injection was done in the normal way and in the acupressure group it was done after applying pressure in the injection area for one minute. Then using Visual Analog Scale (VAS) the rate of pain was evaluated in two groups.
