Determining the effect of the clinical communication skill course on the level of communication skills of clinical faculty members
Design
In order to assign people to the groups, after determining the names of the clinical faculty members, who were 58 people, each person was assigned a number, then 29 people were entered in each control and intervention group based on a lottery.
Settings and conduct
This semi-experimental study was conducted in 2021 at Yasuj University of Medical Sciences. First, faculty members' educational needs for communication skills were identified using a researcher-made questionnaire.
After that, a training course was designed for cases of weakness .
After the course, the communication skills were assessed.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Faculty members who have at least one year of teaching experience in the clinic and nurses who have at least one year of experience in the clinic were included in the study.
Intervention groups
For the intervention group, the training course was conducted in the form of a three-hour webinar program. The topics of this webinar include concepts of clinical communication and its components; examples of active listening skills; examples of verbal skills; examples of non-verbal skills; patient-centered examples; and examples of recognizing emotions and empathy. The webinar was also recorded and a recorded link was sent to faculty members through Whatsapp. The control group did not participate in any training course.
