The aim of this clinical trial multi centeral study was the comparison between efficacy of levonorgestrel single dose, with two doses of levonorgestrl and Yuzpe method as an emergency contraception. Informed consent was obtained.
Inclusion Criteria: women within 120 hours of unprotected intercourse; regular menstrual cycles; No current use of any hormonal contraception; non smoker
Exclusion Criteria: One or more acts of unprotected intercourse more than 120 hours current or recent use of hormonal methods of contraception;
Women were randomly allocated in three groups: Group A received two doses of 0.75 mg LNG taken 12 h apart, Group B received the single dose of LNG(1.5 mg); and Group C received the yuzpe regime( four tab ocp contain 30 microgram ethinyl estradiol plus 0.15 mg levonorgestrel, each given twice, 12 hours apart totally 8 tab).
The main variable is success rate in three interventional methods; B hCG test was performed after 3 weeks menstruation delay .Intrauterine pregnancy was confirmed by abdominal ultrasound .
