Determining the Efficacy of QEEG-based Neurofeedback in Learners’ EFL Reading Comprehension Skill
Design
Treatment with a control group, random sampling, 10 participants were chosen randomly and then were divided into two groups of five people as experimental group and control group. The rand function of Excel was used for randomizing.
Settings and conduct
Roozhaye Sepid clinic in Mashhad, using neurofeedback. All
participants in this study will be requested to respond to tests of reading comprehension and vocabulary size while measuring the brain frequency of the brain waves via qEEG recording system.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Every person who is qualified as B1 in English and is above 18 can take part in the experiment. Every person who has any psychological disorder, taking medicine or being under any other form of treatment, including neurofeedback or TMS is not allowed to take part in the experiment.
Intervention groups
Intervention group: The intervention group consists of five participants. Every participant takes the placement test and reading test and participates in twenty thirty-minute sessions of watching IELTS educational videos while small electrodes are attached to the scalp, recording brain waves and the participate tries to focus and keep the screen extended. Finally, the reading test is taken, again.
