Study purpose: To investigate the effect of using checklist on intensive care nurses’ knowledge and performance in measurement of central venous pressure and evaluating nurses' satisfaction with applying this tool
Study design: Non-randomized controlled trial (before and after)
Study population: All nurses working in ICU of Khatam-Ol-Anbia Hospital
Inclusion criteria: Nurses with bachelor's degree or higher; at least six months experience in a critical care
Exclusion criteria: Unwillingness to continue participation in the study; moving to other wards during the study; participation in some training courses related to the research subject during the study; doing the procedure less than twice during the intervention
Sample size: At least 30 nurses in each group
Study intervention: Eligible nurses divided in experiment and control groups non randomly. Then, in the experiment group, nurses will fill a nurses' intervention checklist after each measurement of CVP for one month. Before and after this, their performance in measuring CVP will evaluate by an observational checklist and their knowledge about CVP will assess using a questionnaire. As well, at the end of intervention their satisfaction with this documentation will investigate by a questionnaire. In control group, no intervention will performance and nurses measure CVP just according to routine. Before and after one month, their knowledge and performance will evaluate by a questionnaire and an observational checklist, respectively.
Time of intervention: 4 months
