Aim: The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Holy Quran on patient’s anxiety and some of physiological responses before abdominal surgeries.
Methods & Material: It was a quasi- experimental study of blinded clinical trial design. Participants were 52 patients who were scheduled to undergo abdominal surgery in Shahid Beheshti Hospital of Kashan University of medical sciences and health services (2009). Patients were selected by convenience method and then randomized to two groups of test and control. Participants listened to Holy Quran for 20 minutes in test group. Control group don’t receive any intervention. Anxiety measured by Spielberger inventory and vital signs by mercury monometer and counting in clinical before and after intervention.
