The purpose of the present investigation is to assess the efficacy ofMinocycline in the treatment of mild to moderate among patients with HIV receiving HAART regimen in a six-week double-blind, placebo controlled trial. 50 adult outpatients who meet the DSM-V criteria for major depression(mild to moderate) will participate in the trial. Patients who have a baseline Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression score below 20 will be randomly allocated into two groups. 25 will receive Minocycline100 mg BID and 25 will receive placebo. Patients were assessed by a psychiatrist at baseline and after 1, 3 and 6 weeks after the medication started. Efficacy will be defined as the change from baseline to endpoint in score on Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression.

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1-Confirmation of HIV infection by Western-blot test 2-receiving HAART medications 3- score lower than 20 in Hamilton Rating Scale for depression 4-Mild to moderate major depressive disorder based on DSM-V 5-consent for entering the trial
Exclusin criteria: 1-receving antidepressants, 2-ongoing addiction, 3-opportunistic infections during 45 days before entering the trial, 4-severe depression and suicidality, 6-death of loved ones during the last month, 7-active infection and fever, 8-cancer, 9-pregnancy, 10-alcohol dependence, 11-history of allergy to minocycline or other tetracyclines, 12- Cognitive disorders including dementia due to HIV
