Objectives: To investigate the effect of educational program based on Health Belief Model on the mother's beliefs and practices in order to prevent injury prevention among under five-year children
Design: A before-after trial
Setting and conduct: The mothers who refer to health centers will be included if they fulfill eligibility criteria.
Participants including major eligibility criteria: The participants with the following criteria will be included in the study: having under five-year child; having an active medical recode in the health center; voluntarily participate in the study; regular participation in the educational sessions. The participants with each one of the following criteria will be excluded from the study: Having under five-year child with chronic disease; absence from educational session more than twice.
Intervention: The volunteers will be divided into six groups of 20 people each. For each group, six educational sessions will be hold separately during three weeks using different educational programs such as speech, question and answer, group discussion, as well as using CDs, pouters, booklets and pamphlets.
Main outcome measures: In each individual six outcome will be measured before and after intervention. The outcomes of interest that will be assessed are as follows: knowledge (15 questions), practice (20 questions), perceived sensitivity (5 questions), perceived severity (5 questions), perceived benefits (5 questions), perceived barriers (5 questions), queue to action (4 questions), and self-efficacy. These outcomes may be affected by the intervention. Thus, we will compare the mean score of each outcome before intervention with that of after intervention.
