1- Major objectives: Determining the effect of caring for old people on the attitudes of nursing students in Kashan University of Medical Sciences in, 2012.
2- Design: It is a randomized controlled trial (in two groups of intervention and control).
3- Setting and conduct: Students will be randomly assigned into intervention and control groups. The intervention group (which will divided into 3 smaller subgroups) will be engaged in caring for elderly for 10 consecutive days. The study will be conducted in Golabchi elderly nursing home in Kashan city.
4- Participants: All the nursing students in their last year of the study in the bachelor degree (60 students). Inclusion criteria is: Being in the last year of the study. The exclusion criteria is the student's inability to complete the clinical course.
5- Intervention: At first a pretest about the attitudes of the students toward old people will be completed. Then the students in the intervention group will be involved in caring of the elderly for 10 days (from 8 morning to 13 o'clock). One day after finishing the clinical course, a post test will be done in the two groups again.
6- Main outcome: Changes in the students attitude toward the aged people.

Description
Intervention group: The students who are caring of elderly for 10 days (everyday, 2-3 elderly will be assigned to each student. The students will care for the elderly, including communication with them, walking with elderly within the elderly hospice, doing geriatric comprehensive health assessment, listing the elders nursing problems and implementing routine, supportive and therapeutic nursing care for them.
