to determine the effect of nurses' education on cognition of elder abuse by family caregivers
Design
Clinical trial study with control group. The sample size is 120 people (60 in the intervention group and 60 in the control group). The sampling method is simple random, and Blinding will not be done.
Settings and conduct
For intervention group, intervention it will done in 2 sessions, each session for 2 hours. For control group, it will done no intervention. Data collection will done with questionnaire before and immediately after the intervention in Ramsar and Tonekabon public hospitals.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Having a bachelor's degree in nursing; working in hospital; having work experience with the elderlies; lack of formal education about elder abuse; Participation in both educational sessions.
Exclusion criteria: Having a master or philosophy of doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in nursing; candidate of master or Ph.D degree in nursing
Intervention groups
For intervention group, it will educate Elder abuse phenomenon in 2 sessions, each session for 2 hours.Then Elder abuse phenomenon, risk factors, signs and symptoms will be educated as a lecture and pamphlet and using PowerPoint. In the second session, an elder abuse’s identification tool will be provided for samples. At the end of the second session, the post-test will take place.
For control group, it will done no intervention.

Description
The primary outcome is the recognition of nurses about the phenomenon of elder abuse-induced family caregivers.
Timepoint
In the intervention group: The first phase will do in the first session of the intervention and before the educational intervention, the second phase in the second session of the intervention immediately after the completion of the educational intervention and the third phase; three months later intervention.In the control group: It will be in two intervals similar to test group (before and after intervention).
