Effect of education on promoting environmental responsibility behaviors among female students of secondary school.

Design

In this study, 330 female secondary school students participated. Inclusion criteria: education at the first, second, and third grade secondary school and student's informed consent. Exclusion criteria: failure to complete the questionnaire and leave educational sessions. Participants were randomly selected from the first two secondary schools. A school with 165 students as a case group and another with 165 students were selected as the control group.

Settings and conduct

In the city of Ilam, with regard to the equality of the conditions, among eight single-shift secondary school, two schools were randomly selected.In the next step, randomly, the Shahadat school (with 165 students) was selected as the case group and Bennet al-Hoda school (with 165 students) as the control group. Therefore, the allocation of samples to groups was random, because the assignment of schools to case and control groups was done randomly. Inclusion criteria: education at the first, second, and third grade secondary school and student's informed consent. Exclusion criteria: failure to complete the questionnaire and leave educational sessions. In this study, educational intervention was designed based on pre-test data in the case group. Educational intervention was conducted in five sessions and each session was performed for 30 minutes. The content of the training includes environmental issues including water and energy conservation, waste disposal and wastewater, climate and air pollution, that were prepared by handbook, posters and educational pamphlets and provided to health instructor, parents and students. Methods such as lectures, face to face training, question and answer were used in educational sessions. Also, for more oral education, the virtual network was used. One month after the intervention, students were evaluated for the second time.

Intervention groups
