Determining the Impact of Education Based on the Health Belief Model on tendency of substance Abuse in Students
Design
In this study, 120 students of the first, second, and third grade of high school are selected who are eligible to enter the study. Participants are randomly divided into intervention and control groups and each participant is assigned a code.
Settings and conduct
The prevention of addiction in the second grade students was studied in Ravar high schools. The researcher studies the effects of health belief model-based drug abuse behavior training on the tendency of students to drugs.After the training sessions, the post-test was performed for both intervention and control groups one month later and then the results were evaluated based on the data obtained.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
The inclusion of the students whose level of education is from the first to the third grade of secondary school.
Dissatisfaction with participation in the study leads to the exclusion of subjects from the study.
Intervention groups
In the intervention group, drug abuse prevention training was conducted based on the health belief model in four 75-minute sessions in the classroom.
No intervention was performed in the control group.

Description
The researcher divided the intervention group into three groups of 20, and for each group, four 75-minute-training sessions were conducted according to the health belief model-based drug abuse prevention behaviors. The sessions were conducted in classrooms. Teaching methods were presented by the researcher in form of lectures, questions and answers, class questioning, teamwork, studying leaflet at home, collaborative discussion and motivational contest.
