The investigation of effectiveness of an educational intervention based on the Planned Behavior Theory on hand washing intention among nurses
Design
The study is a clinical trial that has two intervention and control groups. The nurses of the two selected hospitals are randomly divided into two groups of intervention and control.Each group includes 30 nurses.Of the nurses who received the 21-item questionnaire, the hand-washing scores were lower than 63, 60 would be selected from both hospitals
Settings and conduct
Educational intervention was performed on the intention of hand washing in nurses of Imam Khomeini Hospital and Martyr Mostafa Khomeini in Ilam city.no blindness was done in the study.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: At least a bachelor's degree in nursing.At least one year of work experience in the hospital
Exclusion criteria: Nurses with experience in the operating room.Nurses with less than one year work experience in a hospital.Nurses who teach for nursing students.
Intervention groups
In intervention group, educational intervention will be conducted during a one-month and weekly one-session (90 minutes) according to the planned behavioral model constructs. Educational content based on scientific and new resources related to the theory of planned behavior.In the control group, no intervention is given and only the routine training center receives.

Description
Intervention group: educational intervention will be conducted during a one-month and weekly one-session (90 minutes) according to the plan. First session: Use of group discussion on hand washing and its importance by participants, the lecture with slide about hospital infections by the researcher. second session: The lecture with slide about hand washing based on approved protocols, provide group discussion about barriers of hand washing and factors that motivate and encourage hand hygiene by participants. Third session and fourth session: Review previous sessions, a group discussion on the role of other people, such as colleagues and physicians, in the proper handling of hands, summing up through the group discussion and question of the influence of participants from people.
