Determining the effect of family-centered empowerment model on resilience and hope of parents of children with mental retardation in Ali Abad Katoul in 1398
Design
The clinical trial with a test and control group, with factorial groups, will be randomly sampled from the research community where parents of mentally retarded children will be referred to Ali Abad Katul Special School. This experimental study is pre-test and post-test with two groups of test and control. In this way, random numbers will be assigned to the selected units, individual numbers in the test group and even numbers in the control group. After explaining the aims of the study, before the intervention in the test and control group, the standard questionnaire of resilience and hope will be completed by the researcher or parents and after the intervention the questionnaire will be completed again. Sample size was 48 (24 in experimental group and 24 in control group)
Settings and conduct
Parents of mentally retarded children referred to Ali Abad Katool Special School will be randomly selected. Then, in the experimental group, the mothers will be exposed to the independent variable of education in 6 sessions of 60 minutes each.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
The parent inclusion criteria are those with at least one child with mental retardation who are willing to participate in the study, and the exclusion criteria are non-participation or absenteeism in the parenting classes.
Intervention groups
This experimental study is a pretest-posttest with two experimental and control groups. In the experimental group, the mothers will be trained in 6 sessions of 60 minutes each with an independent variable that will be approved by the counselor. There is no intervention for the control group during this period and only pre-test is taken.
