This is a quasi-experimental, double-blinded and interventional study. Goal of the study: to determine the effects of group logotherapy training on the self-esteem of the elderly people aged 60 to 80 referred to Mehr retirement center in Kermanshah and scored over eight on the lie scale of Coopersmith inventory. The study was conducted between June to October 2013. Sampling methods: participants (N=30) are matched based on self-esteem scores and are randomly assigned into two groups: case and control groups (two groups of 15 each). After obtaining informed consent, demographic questionnaire and Coopersmith self- esteem inventory short form were completed by participants before the intervention Inclusion criteria included age over 60, scored over eight on the lie scale of Coopersmith inventory, lack of cognitive and learning disabilities and willingness to participate in the study; while exclusion criteria included unwillingness to participate in the study and any types of cognitive disorders. The older adults in the case group participated in group logotherapy program consisted of two two-hour sessions per week for 5 consecutive weeks; while the participants of the case group received no intervention. The questionnaires are completed by the participants of both groups immediately after, one month and three months after the intervention to ensure the sustainability of trainings. The study is lasted for a four- month period in both groups.
