Protocol summary

Summary
The aim of study is the evaluation of social emergency and telephone follow up services effect on suicide prevention and reattemption.This study is a preventive randomized clinical trial. 300 Participants are attending to study among suicide attempters referring to Baharloo hospital. They will follow for 12 months. Inclusion criteria is Tehran residence and the exclusion criteria is Mental retardation. Participants are divided into two groups: intervention and control groups by randomization. All participants will fill Supremiss, SCID1 and MCMI 3 questionnaires by interviews. Package of preventive interventions is including patient education, introduction to social emergency services, assistance in crisis and follow-up interventions after discharge.Telephone follow-up is done in the first, second and fourth weeks and then monthly during a year in order to assess the primary outcome of suicide reattempt. Control group will receive the routine treatment without any intervention. Then they will follow by telephone contact in 4th, 8th and 12th months after discharge.

Present service “social emergency 123 of welfare organization” and encourage using of this service in crisis conditions Discharge intervention: Telephone follow-up interferences perform in the weeks 1,2 and 4 of the first month and then once in every months for a year
