This study investigated effects of Community-Based Relapse Prevention intervention on opiate-dependences' retention. Seventy-one admitted male opiate-dependents in short-term residential abstinence-based treatment centers who lived in communities participated in a trial. Community-Based Relapse Prevention intervention was implemented in seven communities in two cities of Iran, Tehran and Karaj from 22 November 2010 to 18 March 2011. Thirty-six relapse prevention projects implemented by teams in 7 communities for case group. Case and control groups were followed up 45 and 90 days after discharge.

Inclusion/Exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Being an opiate abuser as the main reason of seeking a treatment; residing in the community; being voluntarily willing to participate in the study.
Exclusion criteria: The homeless people; those who were not living in the community; participants who did not pass twenty eight days abstinence successfully (according to the short-term residential treatment program, adopted and approved by Welfare Organization on Iran in 2007)
