Protocol summary

Study aim
To evaluate the efficacy of an online group mindfulness-based training program on alleviating perceived stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms among elementary school teachers during wartime.
Design
A two-arm, parallel-group, single-blind (analyst) randomized controlled trial conducted entirely on a secure virtual platform.
Settings and conduct
This is a two-arm, parallel-group, single-blind (analyst-blinded) randomized controlled trial conducted among primary school teachers in District 5 of the Department of Education in Tehran, Iran. Participants are recruited via electronic open calls. Following initial screening and baseline electronic data collection via the Porsline online survey platform, eligible teachers are randomly allocated (1:1 ratio using sequentially numbered opaque sealed envelopes) into either an intervention or a waitlist control group. The intervention group receives 8 weekly 75-minute online group mindfulness sessions via the Bale application platform. The control group receives no intervention during the study period. To minimize evaluation bias, the statistical data analyst remains strictly blinded to group allocation (labeled as Groups A and B).
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
36 primary school teachers from District 5, Tehran, with ≥3 years of tenure and mild-to-moderate DASS-21 baseline scores. Severe mental conditions or absence >20% serve as exclusion criteria.
Intervention groups
Intervention group receives 8 weekly 75-minute online MBSR sessions (body scan, mindful breathing, meditation). Control group receives no active training during the trial (waitlist control) and gets materials post-study.
Main outcome variables
Mean scores of stress, anxiety, and depression measured via the validated DASS-21 instrument at baseline and immediately post-intervention (week 8).

Randomization (investigator's opinion)
Randomized
Randomization description
Due to the inherent nature of psychological/educational interventions, blinding of participants and the interventionist is not feasible; therefore, a single-blind design is employed. The outcome assessor and data analyst are kept completely blinded to group allocations throughout the trial. Data retrieved from the online survey platform (Porsline) are coded anonymously as Group A and Group B before statistical analysis to minimize assessment and analytical biases.
Blinding (investigator's opinion)
Single blinded
Blinding description
The outcome assessor and data analyst are blinded to group allocations (coded as Group A vs. Group B) throughout the trial and statistical analysis.

Other design features
Two-arm, pretest-posttest, parallel-group randomized controlled trial.
