Protocol summary
This study is a randomized double blind , controlled with placebo and drug , single- center , parallel clinical trial on 105 patients, aged 45 to 75 who have metabolic syndrome with coronary disease in angiography and diabetes with American Diabetes Association and serum LDL levels > 100 that don’t have thyroid disease or smoking .At the baseline volunteers devided to one of the groups received Omega-3 fatty acid(flaxseed oil) pearl, Omega-3 fatty acid(fish oil) pearl or placebo pearl twice a day, for 3 months randomly. Patients don’t change in Physical Activity and food habit which was cheked with standardized questionnaires . At the beginning and end of 3 months of blood samples for determination of total cholesterol, FBS,TG, LDL, HDL, insulin, hs-CRP and QUICKI were recorded and and the results will be compared in each group and between groups .

این مطالعه به صورت کارآزمایی بالینی دو سوکور، کنترل شده با دارو و پلاسبو، تصادفی به صورت تک مرکزی و موازی بر روی 105 بیمار 75- 45 ساله مبتلا به سندروم متابولیک با معیار ورود بیماران کرونر قلبی بر اساس آنژيوگرافيِ و بیماران مبتلا به دیابت براساس انجمن دیابت آمریکا ؛ که ميزان LDL سرمي بالاتر از 100 ميلي گرم داشته و بیماریهای تیروئید واستعمال دخانیات نداشته باشند اجرا میشود. افراد در ابتدای مطالعه تصادفا در یکی از گروههای دریافت کننده کپسول نرم امگا 3 گیاهی از روغن بذر کتان( ساخت شرکت داروسازی باریج اسانس)، کپسول نرم امگا 3 روغن ماهی یا کپسول نرم پلاسبو 2 بار در روز به مدت 3 ماه قرار خواهند گرفت. افراد در این مدت تغییری در میزان فعالیت و دریافت غذایشان ایجاد نمیکنند و این موضوع با پرسشنامه های استاندارد سنجیده میشود. در ابتدا و پایان مطالعه از افراد نمونه خون جهت تعیین سطح کلسترول تام، HDL ، LDL ، TG، FBS ، انسولین،hs-CRP و همچنین QUICKI گرفته و نتایج در هر گروه و نیز بین گروهها مقایسه خواهد شد.

Among patients with CHD referred to cardiology Clinic affiliated to Kashan University of Medical Sciences, 90 patients will be selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Protocol summary
Study aim
Objective: The aim of this study is to compare the effects of flaxseed oil and fish oil supplementation on cardiovascular health in type 2 diabetic patients with coronary heart disease.
Design
Study design: Randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial. To decrease potential confounding effects, all participants will have stratified randomization according to BMI (<25 and ≥25 kg/m2) and age (<65 and ≥65 y). Then, participants in each block will be randomly allocated into three groups to take either supplements or placebo. Randomization will be done by the use of computer software.
Settings and conduct
Among patients with CHD referred to cardiology Clinic affiliated to Kashan University of Medical Sciences, 90 patients will be selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Participants, investigators or the assessors of the outcomes are unaware of the study groups. Supplements and placebos are similar in shape and size. Fasting blood samples will be taken at baseline and 12 weeks after the intervention. At the beginning and the end of the intervention: 12 weeks.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion Criteria: Subjects aged 40-100 years diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and coronary heart disease. Exclusion Criteria: Individuals consuming omega-3 supplements within the last 3 months, having an acute myocardial infarction or cardiac surgery within the past 3 months.
Intervention groups
Intervention group 1: Omega-3 fatty acid (flaxseed oil) pearl, 1000 mg, BID, for 3 months orally. Intervention group 2: Omega-3 fatty acid (fish oil) pearl, 1000 mg, BID, for 3 months orally. control group: placebo pearl, 1000 mg, BID, for 3 months orally.
Main outcome variables
Outcomes: Insulin resistance (primary outcomes) and lipid profile, weight, BMI, biomarkers of inflammation and oxidative stress (secondary outcomes) will be quantified at study baseline and end-of-trial
