Protocol summary

Study aim
The purpose of this study was comparison of stretching exercise and walking on the reduction of neck muscle fatigue due to prolonged reading using electromyography for assessment.
Design
In this study, samples will be selected from students of all disciplines in the school of Allied Medical Sciences of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences who have not any problem of neck pain. They will be randomly allocated into two groups of stretching exercise and walking. After attaching the recording electrodes of electromyography on the neck muscles, at the first session, the participants will be sited at the table, which is embedded, and they will be reading for one hour. At the second session (next day), the participants will be sited at the table, which is embedded, and they will be reading for one hour again, but in the first group, every ten minutes, the stretching exercises will be performed by the participants for 5 periods of one minute (a total of 5 minutes) and in the second group, every ten minutes, participants will walk at a desired pace speed for 5 periods of one minute (a total of 5 minutes). After one hour of reading in the first and second session, participants in both groups will be assessed. From the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes of the reading period, the electromyographic signals will be recorded and assessed regarding muscle fatigue. The surface EMG of Splenius capitis and Trapezius will be taken and after filtering the signals, the frequency spectrum will be provided and the median frequency will be the basis for judgment about muscle tiredness in two groups.
Settings and conduct
In this study, samples were selected from among students of all disciplines of the Faculty of Paramedicine of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences who have no neck problem. The samples were randomly divided into two groups: tensile training and walking between long-term study. Each sample is evaluated in two different days. On the first day, neck muscle fatigue was measured only after the one hour of study, and on the next day, each group's samples were subjected to the relevant intervention study and will be re-evaluated.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Being student in School of Allied Medical Sciences of Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences. Exclusion criteria: People with congenital (hereditary) diseases, patients with a history of surgery and patients with a history of neck or arm pain or musculoskeletal disorder will be excluded.
Intervention groups
In the stretching exercise group, every ten minutes, the exercises will be performed 5 times for one minute. In the second group, every ten minutes, they will walk slowly in their optimum speed for a minute and a total of 5 times.
