Protocol summary

Study aim: Designing a hospital triage training application based on the microlearning method and comparing its effect with the lecture method on the learning outcomes of Aja University of Medical Sciences nursing students.
Design: A controlled, parallel-group, single-blind clinical trial of 60 students. The web software https://www.graphpad.com/quickcalcs/randomize2/ will be used for randomization.
Settings and conduct: This study will be conducted on nursing students of Aja University of Medical Sciences. The method of doing the work is that the students of the sixth semester will enter the study using a simple random method and will be divided into 3 intervention groups: the first intervention (micro learning method), the second intervention (lecture method) and the control group. The researcher provided sufficient explanations about the study to the students so that they signed the informed consent form if they wanted to participate in the study. For the first intervention group, triage educational content will be used in the form of a researcher-made application. For the second intervention group, the same educational content will be taught by lecture method, and no intervention will be done for the control group.
Participants/Inclusion and exclusion criteria: 6th semester students of Aja Faculty of Nursing; Willingness to participate in the study; Failure to pass training courses in the field of triage; Having a smart mobile phone
Intervention groups: The students of the 6th semester will be enrolled in the study using a simple random method and will be divided into 3 groups: the first intervention (triage training using the micro learning method), the second intervention (triage training using the lecture method) and the control group.

Description: The outcome variable in the current study is the score obtained in the knowledge assessment questionnaire, which is taken from the NCLEX questions and the latest edition of the emergency severity index, and the score obtained in the mental skill questionnaire.
Timepoint: The level of knowledge and mental skill will be measured at the beginning of the study (before the intervention) and immediately after the intervention.
Method of measurement: The way to measure the variable of two questionnaires is to measure knowledge and mental skill.
